What is yoga?

Yoga is a pathway to peace and healing, handed down to us by Ancient Yogis who lived thousands of years ago. Today, we are blessed to use yoga as a tool to help us cope with modern life. Yoga stretches and warms the body to release blocked energy, known as Prana, the life force energy that runs through every living thing on Earth.

Is yoga for me?

Absolutely yoga is for everyone There's a common misconception that yoga requires you to be young, female, thin, or exceptionally flexible. However, yoga is non-competitive and inclusive of all body types and skill levels. It's not just postures, it's a lifestyle choice that encompasses spirituality without being religious.

In my classes, I offer modifications for every pose to suit your energy and flexibility on any given day. There is never any pressure to do more than you feel capable of, and I encourage you to listen to your body rather than compare yourself to others. Yoga is a chance to celebrate our differences.

There are many different styles of yoga, some more gentle than others, its important to find the style and teacher that suits you and your needs.

My style of teaching is quite energetic and I would never call it gentle! But, I have yogis who have been coming to me for years ranging from teenagers right through to their late 70s! So age is no barrier.

What is vinyasa flow yoga?

Vinyasa translates from Sanskrit to mean "to place in a special way." My vinyasa flow classes combine breath with movement, creating a moving meditation that leaves you feeling rejuvenated and peaceful. We start and end each session with meditation and relaxation, often exploring Pranayama (breathing techniques) to lower stress and promote mindfulness.

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, is a blissfully relaxing practice often included during Savasana (relaxation) at the end of class. Yoga transforms us and our lives, working on many levels to heal, therapeutically support, and provide fun. Classes can be challenging but are designed to release muscle tension and improve flexibility over time.

I strive to create a nurturing, non-competitive environment where you can practice yoga, feel lifted energetically, and leave with a sense of peace and tranquility.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a core component of my daily life and teaching. It helps me cope with modern-day pressures and is integrated into all my yoga classes. Through mindfulness, we can release stress and tension, and understand that we are not controlled by our thoughts.

By practicing yoga with mindfulness, you become more aware of your body and mind, helping you manage stress and maintain a positive outlook.
